Software Engineering Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION The Information Platform Business (IPB) is a group within Rockwell Automation whose charter is to provide Visualization products to the Industrial Automation marketplace. Current products consist of such recognizable brand names as: PanelView, PanelView-Plus, InView, VersaView Computers. These products provide a Visualization view into the manufacturing process. They are configurable by the user so that in combination with other Rockwell Automation products, they can provide a holistic view and control of one's manufacturing process. These products are developed through a collaborative development effort encompassing multiple groups across Rockwell Automation.

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for the timely development and design of cost effective Information Platform Products while managing a multi-disclipined engineering staff. This position focuses on setting the strategic direction for the group, growing the product portfolio, providing leadership on new product development opportunities, encouraging human resource development of their staff and manage a department budget. This position will manage many parallel tasks. Most activities have hard deadlines and large financial impacts that must be met. Collaborate across multiple divisions throughout Rockwell Automation for specification, development, and release of new products.

Within the Information Platform Business, new products are specified and developed from a core group of engineering practitioners. Group is comprised of approx. 24 persons (80% software / 20% hardware) which focus on New Product Development opportunities within the Information Platform Business.



QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelors degree in engineering.

* Demonstratable success of leading a product development group. Minimum of 7 years in product development engineering discipline with focus on contemporary software engineering practices.

* Familiarity with Graphical Operator Interface and/or Human Machine Interface products.

* Demonstrated business competency and technical / project leadership.

* Demonstrated leadership capability and strong interpersonal skills.

* Demonstrated collaborative capabilities across multiple divisions for specification, development and release of new products into the marketplace.
