Description:
This role provides leadership and management to an office products manufacturing business unit. The business unit leader is a key member of the plant extended leadership team, responsible to provide leadership, focus, and development of operating teams across a 3-shift operation, to improve processes and deliver results. This position has accountability for results in areas of safety, quality, process reliability, service, asset management, cost management, product development, implementation of lean-sigma methodology, and organizational development. The business unit leader will plan strategies, direction, and priorities which are aligned with marketing and business objectives, while working with other leaders to promote the greater good of the plant and business organization. Other responsibilities include:
-Ensure tracking and use of key performance indicators to promote improved operational and business results
-Develop and manage business and financial plans
-Providing performance feedback to develop others and motivate positive behaviors
-Ensure accountability of team members to contribute positively to the business and organization
-Provide leadership to facilitate decision-making based on business knowledge and organizational values
-Remove obstacles and obtain resources to help teams achieve objectives
-Act as primary plant contact to external business and customer stakeholders related to business unit
-Network with other areas of organization and industry to promote best practices and innovation
-Interface with Union representatives to proactively resolve potential issues
Additional competency requirements and experience areas are:
-Managing multiple priorities and projects, translating broad organizational strategies into business unit direction, goals, and objectives
-Strong analytical problem-solving skills, and posses am understanding of Six-Sigma methodology
-Understanding and application of continuous improvement (Lean) and operational excellence methods (i.e., performance measures and, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, lean manufacturing, etc.)
-Understanding and application of time-based manufacturing, supply chain concepts and the relationship of inventory and cost
-Understanding of safety, ergonomics, quality, and maintenance processes in manufacturing operations
-Development and management of capital and expense financial plans
-Strong orientation towards customer service and consumer satisfaction
-Ability to lead, contribute, and influence others in a team-based organization
-Ability to develop and motivate individuals and teams within the organization
-Strong communication and networking skills, dealing with all functions and levels of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications for this position as follows:
-Bachelor's degree in engineering, business management, or technical/business related field.
-Five or more years of experience in manufacturing operations, business management, process improvement, or related field.
-Experience in development of a results-focused, team-based environment required, including ability to develop, coach, train, and motivate others.
-Proven leadership capability in a continuous improvement operations (Lean Manufacturing) environment is necessary.
-Must possess ability to manage business and lead plant-wide initiatives, be a strong role model for decision-making and positive behaviors, and develop strategies and action plans that are linked to broader business and organizational objectives.
-Ability to design and apply processes to continuously improve operational effectiveness and manage business results in areas of safety, quality, process reliability, customer service, asset management, and financials.
