Material Handler I

Headquartered in Marshall, Minnesota, The Schwan Food Company is the largest, branded frozen-food company in the United States. Schwan's offers home delivery to customers throughout the 48 contiguous United States as well as operating with a large presence in the foodservice channel and high visibility in the retail frozen food aisle. The company has 19 brands including Tony's , Red Baron , Freschetta , Edwards , Mrs. Smith's and the Schwan's brand.

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position, under direct supervision, is responsible for successfully moving materials, supplies and finished goods through the facility, including unloading frozen food product from semis into warehouse freezers and loading frozen food from warehouse freezers into delivery trucks.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Moves materials through facility with the use of material handling equipment i.e., forklift, pallet jack, hoist, crane, ASRS, etc.

Stacks skids or pallets in designated areas. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping and places in proper containers or designated areas.

Uses tools such as hammers and crowbars to remove strapping, open crates, strap cars.

Uses the computer to dispense and receive basic information that includes product codes, part numbers, quantities, locations, comments, etc.

Completes routine paperwork to properly document work performed.

Conducts basic material audits.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Years of Related Experience: 0-2 years related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic communication skills. Basic PC and math skills. Ability to operate and handling equipment including forklift, pallet jack, hoist, crane, etc.
