Job Description
GOAL:
· Achieve production budget. This is based upon, and measured by, budget metrics: (1) Increase New Business submissions; and/or, (2) Improve Quote Ratio; and/or (3) Improve Hit Ratio; and (4) Improve Retention Ratios on Renewal Business. Additionally, increase and/or enhance Targeted producer(s); improve or terminate non-performing producers.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
· Report directly to the Vice President of Business Development, Management Protection Division and territorial Regional Vice President(s) under a matrix management structure.
· Extensive travel via all modes of transportation.
· Producer management, including business planning, communication, and producer performance feedback.
· Solicit new submissions and shepherd key accounts.
· Shepard key renewals.
· Monitor activity "metrics" for actions to improve (submissions, quote ratio, hit ratio, etc.).
REPONSIBILITIES:
· Evaluate producers for potential growth opportunity; establish and implement action plan(s) to achieve goals. Monitor activity for results and action, as needed.
· Establish, or enhance, an effective working relationship between producers and underwriters: Keep producers informed with current clear description of desired account appetite; as well as specific targeted accounts; Monitor Producer decline, quote and hit ratios (production results) for action; Active involvement with key accounts.
· Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with producers: Establish system of "continuous" visibility via personal visits, telephone, e-mail, mail, etc.; Seek "cross marketing" opportunities with other C&F profit centers; Establish production goals with Key producers and monitor results, taking action as needed; Know what potential exists, through knowledge of producers' book of business and specialization; Identify prospect producers for review and appointment.
· Communicate "intelligence" to those with need to know: Competition issues or actions; Producer issues or actions; Targeted, or current key account issues or actions; Producer perceptions of Crum&Forster and/or underwriting units.
· Miscellaneous: Participate in events that support goals; Suggest and/or assist in development of Marketing materials or actions.
Required Skills
GENERAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelors Degree (minimum).
· Minimum of 5 years property/casualty experience, preferably in Management Protection.
· Valid drivers' license.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with MPD and Crime underwriters, Regional Vice Presidents, Marketing staff, as well as other C&F staff that may influence goal.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with producers.
· Ability to create and implement effective action plans.
· Must have a high degree of initiative and tact; combined with ability to multi-task.
· Ability to maintain various records for review, and effective analysis, for future action.
· Understanding of producer community within Management Protection/Crime segment.
· Establish working relationship with Marketing for appointment and/or termination procedures.
· Ability to effectively communicate through personal presentation, telephone and written correspondence (i.e. e-mail).
· Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, Internet and the ability to learn proprietary Crum&Forster data systems.
