Mervyns has a well-earned reputation for its extensive selection of national and private-label fashions and housewares. We are currently looking for an outstanding candidate for this position in the Marketing area of our Corporate Headquarters in Hayward, California.POSITION SUMMARY:
Identify, prioritize, develop, and execute strategic marketing plans that support the Credit business objectives, corporate brand integrity, and drive credit sales growth for the company. Primary marketing contact for the credit business, ensuring communication and execution of credit/card marketing campaigns are on strategy and within Mervyns brand character. Partner with multiple internal client groups and external vendors and/or agencies (including GE Consumer Finance) to identify, prioritize, develop, and execute strategic marketing plans that support the credit business objectives and promote sales growth for the company. Primary marketing contact for all client groups, ensuring communication and execution of campaigns are on strategy and within Mervyns brand character. Partners closely with all areas within Marketing to execute strategies and campaigns. Ensures that all areas are informed, on time, and on budget. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning, prioritizing, and outlining goals and objectives. Translate those goal and objectives into compelling marketing campaigns.
Responsible for credit sales success through increased store traffic.
Create compelling and innovative campaigns that include sales driving components, resulting in increased credit traffic and sales.
Control expenses and maintain budgets.
Maintain Mervyns brand character in all campaigns and communication.
Study and know core demographics and shopping habits of Mervyns guest. Explore potential new guest segments. Monitor competition.
Represent the Mervyns brand in all meetings, travel, and communication.
Partner with the following groups within Marketing: Visual Merchandising, Creative, Events/Licensing, Publicity, Community Relations, Visual Planning, Production, Traffic, and Finance to translate key business strategies for the company.
Assume lead role and provide direction on projects to meet objectives, while ensuring integration at all levels.
Provide input and insight to all areas in order to deliver outstanding results that are on strategy, on time, and on budget.
Determine how to best execute projects within standard processes and procedures.
Present and communicate plans to all appropriate departments, ensuring correct interpretation.
Direct and manage outside agencies in the creative development of marketing campaigns.
Communicate credit strategy to external agencies.
Negotiate and manage budgets.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or Advertising.
2 to 3 years experience is required in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field. Ad agency or retail experience is preferred. Supervisory experience is also preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point (desired)
Excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
Superior interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface effectively with many levels.
Must be open-minded with the ability to see all sides objectively.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking skills.
Must be able to present to large audiences in a clear and concise fashion.
Must be able to organize and lead meetings.
Must be proactive and professional with exceptional follow through.
Must represent Mervyns brand image in all facets of business.
Strong networking skills in building cross-functional partnerships.
Strong problem solving skills with ability to see all sides objectively.
