Web Developer Manager

Primary Responsibilities :
Intuit's Professional Tax Group is responsible for customer experience, customer knowledge and development of ProSeries.com and LacerteSoftware.com as well as other shared web capabilities in support of the various products and services across Intuit. These web sites and functionality are important tools for enhancing our customers' overall experience with our products and brands from providing pre-sales information through to providing on-line support.

As Web Development Manager you will be responsible for managing the development team to define, build and test highly interactive, customer-focused web experiences. You should exhibit enthusiasm for and deep knowledge of core web engineering technology plus emerging technologies and disseminate that across your direct staff and our partners. You will be responsible for taking a vision of customer interaction, user interface and visual deign and making that a reality online; and you will work closely with the existing engineering and QA teams to ensure that you are building systems that integrate seamlessly into the existing technology/infrastructure. Critical to your success will be your ability to work effectively in a large, matrixed environment with numerous business stakeholders and multiple functional support groups.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, an excellent team player, passionate about the customer, has an excellent sense of humor, skilled at quickly learning new technologies and have an innovative approach to problem solving.

• Identifies efficient, flexible and scalable technology solutions for managing ProTax web properties. Partner with Web Commerce Group, Intuit Information Technology (formerly CIO), and Business Unit Infrastructure teams to communicate business needs for ProTax. Leverages learning's from other Intuit properties. Solutions to define, implement and manage include:
o Source code
o Shop Intuit infrastructure integration with ProTax sites
o Dynamic content solutions, including serving prices and marketing messaging relevant to audience
o Process Excellence execution: Cross-organizational management/collaboration tool enhancements
o A/B and Multivariate testing tool(s)
• Creates Business Requirements Documents and Functional Requirements Documents for key technology solutions, partnering with marketing, Web Commerce Group, IT, Online Development and other groups as needed.
• Seeks information about new web technologies and uses this to recommend opportunities for improvement in Intuit's processes and approach to web development.
• Technical development of skill sets on the following technologies, and personally execute as needed:
o Dynamic HTML
o RIA
o JavaScript
o PHP
o XML based templates
o TeamSite content management system by Interwoven
o Apache Web Server
o Apache Rewrite Module
• Define repeatable work processes to improve the efficiency of future work
• Assist in implementation of key analytic tools to maximize site performance
• Works with QA to define QA requirements for pages on multiple platforms, Windows-Internet Explorer, Windows-Netscape, Mac OS-Internet Explorer, Mac OS-Safari, etc.
• Manage execution of test plans for all ProTax web sites.


Qualifications :
• BA in Related field, master's degree a plus
• Minimum of 5-8 years of software development experience, including 5+ years experience in java and object oriented programming.
• 2 years as Senior or Lead Engineer in a large scale, high transaction environment.
• Experience with ATG a must.
• Skills in design, development and testing of component based architectures or sub systems.
• Experience with java based web application frameworks such as BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, or JBOSS.
• Minimum of 2 years working with server side scripting (PHP, Perl, etc).
• Content management system implementation and maintenance, and end-user support - TeamSite a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong people management skills.
• Ability to remain focused in high pressure situations
