Overview:
As an Assistant Store Manager, you will assist the Store Manager in directing all storewide activities related to customer service, merchandising, sales promotion, store maintenance, expense management, shortage prevention and sales support functions for a multi-million dollar store. In addition, you will be responsible for the training and development of a team of executives and have $30ml-$50ml volume responsibility. This senior level executive position leads to a Regional Merchandise Manager and then a Vice President and Store Manager for a Macy's East location.

Key Accountabilities:

Recruit and select a team of qualified Group Sales Managers
Actively coach and counsel Group Sales Managers to reach their fullest potential, maximize business opportunities and promote them to the next level
Create a positive work environment that results in retention and turnover reduction
Directly solicit feedback from customers on their shopping experience and satisfaction
Celebrate customer service successes and coach to improve performance
Clearly communicate store, company and departmental objectives so both staff and management are well informed
Direct Sales within Families of Businesses, in conjunction with Merchandising Team Manager, plan floor moves, merchandise placement and sales/event set-up
Ensure merchandising presentation and replenishment meet company standards through directing management team
Communicate merchandise needs to Regional Merchandise Manager
Function as the Senior Manager, assuming total store leadership in their absence and partnering in the strategic planning of short and long term goals
Ensure that all procedures, policies and shortage awareness programs are thoroughly understood and implemented by Sales Managers

Skills Summary:

A minimum of 5-7 years retail management experience preferably in a full-line department store
$20ml to $50ml in volume responsibility
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong negotiation skills
Strong leadership profile
Highly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Ability to work well with all levels of management, build partnerships and direct teams
