Currently we have opportunities for Lead Sales Associate staff. The Lead Sales Associate is a key holder position for the stores.

Summary:

The Lead Sales position is responsible for the opening and closing procedures, and front end operations of the store when a member of the management team is not present. The main focus of the position is to generate sales and provide outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:

Handles all merchandise returns and customer problems/complaints in a positive and expedient manner. Assists customers at the cash wrap in a friendly and efficient manner.

Makes out-of-policy decisions when a manager is unable to assist and with management follow-up to ensure customer service and satisfaction.

Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of Discovery Channel Retail products. Communicates this product knowledge with enthusiasm and a sense of fun. Demonstrates an enthusiasm for adventure and exploration.

Takes initiative to fulfill customer and store priorities and needs.

Promotes and demonstrates a positive, team spirit.

Stays up-to-date with all company and store communications.

Communicates and cooperates with fellow team members.

Follows all company policies and procedures including attendance, timekeeping, personal conduct, dress code, employee discount, etc.

Professionally communicates and receives suggestions objectively and constructively.

Maintains sales floor zone coverage as assigned while flexing to assist customers. Only after serving customers, fulfills other tasks and responsibilities.

As needed will assist with front end operations including: all payment methods, returns, discounts, voids, sends, paid outs, shipping, catalog, price matching, corporate orders, holds, passport program, and cable affiliate program.

Will also provide assistance with mall related issues such as trash disposal.

Performs opening and closing procedures in absence of manager to include: accessing store emails, voice mails, reports, enabling and disabling of alarm system, opening and closing cash registers.

Ensures store is properly stocked for opening/closing. Receives shipments, transfers, attends to customer sends.

Assists the store team in maintaining the store?s visual objectives and housekeeping standards by straightening merchandise, assisting in floor and fixture changes.

Loss Prevention-Practices awareness of and compliance with loss prevention and safety procedures.

Follows proper register and cash handling procedures.

Contacts a manager should any internal or external loss prevention or safety situation arise or be suspect. If no manager is on duty, will follow store safety and security practices.

Requirements:

1-2 years retail experience required.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Strong interpersonal communication skills, leadership potential, basic sales skills/techniques and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Basic PC skills. Experience with email programs, Microsoft Word. Past cashiering experience.

Past experience with a specialty retailer preferred.

Past experience with hard line sales preferred.
