REPORTS TO: Receiving Manager

JOB PURPOSE: Process merchandise using the correct receiving procedures by

Placing and organizing merchandise in the appropriate staging area
Checking in and ticketing merchandise
Prepare merchandise for the sales floor
Delivering merchandise to staging/stock areas and the selling floor
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

1. ORGANIZE MERCHANDISE TO BE PROCESSED by
unloading trucks; placing merchandise boxes at the correct staging workstations; attaching the receivers to the appropriate boxes for checking and ticketing.

2. CHECK IN AND TICKET MERCHANDISE by
working in an efficient manner to meet daily production standards; referring to the receiver to identify merchandise for ticketing; placing tickets on the merchandise; checking for damaged merchandise; reporting damages to Receiving Manager; accurately counting merchandise to assure it matches the number on the receiver; recording detailed information on the receiver if there is an overage/shortage of either merchandise or tickets; giving the Receiving Administrator the receiver and notations of discrepancies after ticketing is completed.

3. IDENTIFY AND MAKE FINE JUDGEMENTS ABOUT PRODUCT COLOR by
looking at merchandise to classify by defined standard colors as noted on receivers and tickets.

4. PREPARE MERCHANDISE FOR THE SELLING FLOOR by
following daily production standards to: hang, fold, and tag merchandise as required; placing merchandise by style on rolling racks or in boxes; delivering merchandise to the designated staging/stock area and the selling floor in a timely manner.

5. CONTRIBUTE TO ONGOING COMMUNICATION by
verbally reporting on a daily basis the status of workflow/assigned tasks and additionally briefing the Receiving Manager on situations or issues of concern.

6. PROVIDE INFORMATION AND MAINTAIN HISTORICAL DATA by
answering questions; notifying Receiving Manager and Receiving Administrator of: damages, over/short merchandise and tickets; completing forms accurately and legibly; filing information as required.

7. REMEMBER WRITTEN AND VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS OVER TIME by
gaining a complete understanding of the necessary job results/workflows and asking questions to enhance job knowledge for continual reference.

8. ASSIST IN MINIMIZING LOSS OF COMPANY ASSETS by
keeping the department and stockroom in order; immediately notifying the loss prevention staff or a member of management of suspected or observed dishonest activity within the store; following Stein Mart’s Loss Prevention policies and procedures.

9. MAINTAIN SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIRONMENT by
completing daily cleaning/housekeeping duties in the receiving area and stockroom; participating in additional cleaning/housekeeping as assigned; following manufacturer’s standards of use for equipment; reporting damage or mechanical problems of equipment to Receiving Manager; complying with all procedures, rules and regulations.


BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Requirements: Basic literacy and numerical skills: demonstrated abilities to read, write, and count.

Behavioral Attributes: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Willingness to cooperate and work with others to achieve results. Detail-oriented; willingness to follow-through and complete tasks to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:Heavy physical effort required. Routine lifting of 20 lbs. or more. Walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting will constitute 100% of a work shift. Ability to identify colors. Use of equipment to include but not limited to: freight elevator, freight conveyor belt, rolling racks, pallet jacks, hand carts, ladders and dollies.

Preferred: Prefer prior retail department store and/or receiving experience; receiving or clerical experience to include working with numerical data.
