Information Systems Specialist
This is a temporary position for a period of 6 months.
Duties:
The area consists of 75 systems and 4 servers in both a Windows/Unix environment.
Responsible for providing systems administration for PC running Windows NT, Windows 2K, Windows XP, Office 2000, XP as well as support for MS exchange servers. This will involve initial system installations, system re-imaging and data recovery, hardware diagnostic testing, registry editing and network printer setup and repair.
Maintains systems in operational condition centered on Compaq 360 & 370 servers running Windows 2000 server as well as participate in migration activity to server 2003.
Responsible for maintaining external connectivity to include determining bandwidth needs, communicating requirements to networking team. Assessing line utilization and troubleshooting as necessary.
Responsible for the maintenance of mobile devices and services to include goodlink wireless e-mail on TREO 600 Palm Tops.
Responsible for installation, configuration and maintenance of anti-virus solutions, windows scripting for application installation, system performance monitoring, performing installations utilizing install shield admin studio.
Perform data management tasks including system backups, scheduling system maintenance and coordinating with the customer, recommended down time.
Requires frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contracts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Support customers through daily helpdesk activity. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough and practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
Responsible for development and maintaining required system documentation.
Required experience:
In-depth knowledge of Linux, Window NT/2000, Windows 2000/2003 server, Windows XP, Office 2000/XP. Knowledge of Compaq ML360/370 hardware as well as Compaq Desktop lines. Familiar with Norton Antivirus products, and arcserve backup, data backup system design, principles, and safeguards. Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints. Proven ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures. Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications. Responsible for development and maintaining required system documentation.
Knowledge Desired:
Networking knowledge helpful, MCSE and Unix/Linux administrative skills. Knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, and RAS equipment, operational and TREO Palm Tops.
Active Secret Clearance highly desirable. U.S. Citizenship required for purposes of obtaining security clearance.
