SENIOR DIRECTOR, PRODUCTION SERVICES #684-06 (#684-06)

The Information Technology Department located in Walnut Creek, CA or Phoenix, AZ has an opening for a Senior Director, Production Services. This is a Senior IT leadership position responsible for the success of Safeway's 24x7, technology infrastructure services. Responsibility areas include infrastructure services (operational readiness and planning, deployment, support, and maintenance) for Safeway's technology infrastructure (database, operating systems, middleware, and network), software configuration management, and lab services. In this position there is a strong emphasis on developing staff and procedures to support the convergence of new technologies to ensure a robust and cost-effective technology operations environment while identifying efficiencies in maintaining the current environment.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Responsible for operational readiness assurance, system interfaces, systems documentation, and the optimization and migration of new and existing technologies and platforms.
* Ensure Service Level Agreements are met or exceeded by managing the day-to-day support and problem escalation mechanisms for all responsibility areas including those related to new package software implementations.
* Ensure adherence to disaster recovery procedures and contribute to business continuity planning.
* Identify and implement operating efficiencies to streamline technology operations, cost savings, and/or improved service levels in line with IT and business goals. Integration of systems and technology due to planned growth or the integration of new business units.
* Management of all technology infrastructure support resources to ensure the planning and development of appropriate skill sets and bandwidth are available to support needs as driven by the business.
* Manage operating and capital expenses by effectively planning for the utilization of staff and equipment for prioritized projects, support, and maintenance activities.
* Contribute to the creation of and enforce technology operations standards and methodologies, including project management practices.
* Presentation of technology operations concepts and cost/service level/risk trade-offs in business terms so that business understanding and input is provided as well as technical.

Qualifications: The following are required unless specifically stated as preferred or desired:
* BS/BA in computer science/Mis/engineering or related field.
* Minimum of 10; preferably 15 or more years of technology operations experience including management of high-availability, large, complex, and multi-platform technical environments (e.g., IBM Mainframe, Tandem, ERP, e-commerce, data warehouse, etc.) and telecommunications infrastructure.
* Strong track record of success in technology operations including implementation and on-going management of large-scale systems and custom development efforts
* Broad and deep technology operations understanding for all areas of responsibility.
* Strong project management skills managing multiple projects
* Excellent communication and presentation skills including for both technical and non-technical audiences (including clients and non-it vendors)
* Ability to mange remote locations teams; global experience.
* Excellent data security experience
* Track record in successfully managing 3rd party audits, SOX requirements and other compliance requirements and instructions.
