Senior Software Engineer - Content Technology
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to serve as a Senior Software Engineer on our Data Acquisition team within Content Technology. Data Acquisition is responsible for acquiring all electronic information for TLR. In addition, we develop and support a very sophisticated workflow system responsible for processing data and feeding information to many online and print products.
Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze, design, develop, implement and software testing.
Gather requirements, design, code, test and implement according to design specifications.
Provide timely and accurate communication of status to project leaders in oral and written formats.
Seek out and share technical knowledge with other members across the organization.
Participate in and drive improvements of the quality assurance process.
Seek out new technologies and ideas to add value to our products.
Re-engineer current systems to allow for flexibility, stability, and scalability while preserving existing functionality.
Work with end-users to define and correct issues.
Participate as a team member and assisting other team members where needed.
Perform such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.
Conduct Pager support as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, with a strong academic record.
5+ years of industry software development experience.
Proficiency in the following technologies: C/C++, UNIX, Java/JDBC, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, Socket (Client/Server) and shell script on UNIX environment.
Other strongly desired technologies: ASP/.NET, JSP/Servlet and XML.
Knowledge of object-oriented and structured languages.
Ability to solve complex problems independently and to seek out and generate innovative solutions.
Strong data analysis, design and testing skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
