Software Quality Control Mgr
JOB DESCRIPTION Wolters Kluwer Financial, a Wolters Kluwer company, one of the world's leading publishers and providers of information products and services is currently seeking a Manager of Software Quality Control
Position Overview
Lead and manage members of the QC/Test Team on multiple concurrent projects throughout the entire system and software development life cycle. Duties will include not only technical and work direction, but administrative and people-management responsibilities as well. This position will be located in either our downtown Minneapolis MN office or our St. Cloud MN office; however, applicant must be willing to commute to either office as business needs dictate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
oManage the day-to-day activities of the testing staff in St. Cloud, Minneapolis and other remote sites.
oResponsible for training and development of the staff personnel working in the SQC function.
oAssist in defining and implementing new testing processes, documentation and testing methodologies in order to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
oServe as independent review of products coming out of Product Development to ensure products meet customer requirements and work according to documented specifications.
oMentor and provide leadership on process for all SQC/Testing staff.
oEnsure testing tasks and documentation for all types of releases are completed according to project schedules and release qualification plans.
oReview designs for testability, supporting cross-functional test planning with other departments (Project Management, Technology and Creative Services.)
oMeasure staff productivity to meet operational business metrics.
oPerform resource planning and coordinate testing resources. Assign software quality engineers to development projects and sections of the product. Must be able to handle a number of simultaneous projects and tasks and must demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership to drive issues to completion.
oAssist in the creation of specific test strategies and plans for projects.
oEstablish collaborative relationships with project managers and software development managers to ensure success of project test phases.
QUALIFICATIONS oBachelor's degree in computer science (or equivalent) required.
Master's degree preferred.
oRequires a minimum five years of experience in software development QC/QA environment with at least two years of management/leadership experience.
oProven experience in a management role overseeing the testing of complex software systems.
oOutstanding communication, organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills.
oFull understanding of the SDLC, with specific focus on testing procedures.
oExcellent technical knowledge and problem identification, analysis and solving skills.
oPractical knowledge and experience in all phases of QC and release management processes and systems.
oDemonstrated experience with improvement methodologies, including statistical monitoring, hands on testing, automated test tools, project management tools and defect tracking tools.
Experience with testing in .NET and/or J2EE technology platforms.
oCMMi exposure and/or experience preferred.
oLean Six Sigma exposure and/or experience preferred.
oBanking industry/Financial Services knowledge preferred
oOff-shore experience preferred.
oWorking knowledge of Mercury testing tools preferred.
CSTE, CSQA or equivalent certification preferred
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position will be located in either our downtown Minneapolis office or our St. Cloud office; however, applicant must be willing to commute to either office as business needs dictate. May also require other business travel as business needs dictate. This position will require candidate to be in the St. Cloud office a minimum of two-three days a week.
