Summary



Position Purpose


Provides leadership and guidance to more junior engineers in the Analyses, planning and modification of network components supporting network growth. Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities.





Primary Duty/Responsibility


· Takes lead roll with cross functional teams (Market/FSC) to communicate the capacity plan and technical roadmap. Supports the development and deployment of network planning tools from the FSC to the markets.


· Frequently interacts with vendors to discuss technology evolution and the subsequent impacts to the existing infrastructure.


· Responsible for Training engineering staff on process and procedures within the Network Planning organization.


· Takes lead roll in developing streamlined methods used in quarterly/annual planning and budgeting of network elements (NSS, BSS, and Transmission) for the Region/ Markets. Develops the network planning documentation (qualitative/quantitative) for presentation to other functional teams.





Discretion and Independent Judgment


Will act as a leader, mentors more junior level engineers. Provides recommendations to management regarding budget, asset planning, and technology evolution.








Functional/Technical Skills


· Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications,


· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;


· Strong presentation skills required. Strong understanding of IP and/or VOIP technology is required.





Education/Experience


· Bachelor's Degree


· Background in financial analysis and budgeting is required.


· 4-7 years network planning, 2-3 yrs within the wireless telecommunications sector
