Summary
The Manager will:
supervise and provide technician assistance and guidance to switch technicians.
oversee the execution of complex technical tasks associated with the maintenance of cell and switch equipment in a way that we realize optimum network performance, quality customer service and minimize outages.
have personal skills to use and to train technicians on the use of test equipment (e.g., T-Berd, K15, Light Meters, etc.).
need above average communicates skills in order to work with other organizations and department managers to resolve customer problems or business issues.
be responsible for the completion of regular routine maintenance schedules.
be responsible for equipment placement and installation.
provide observers for all equipment adds, modifications and removals and participate in final test and acceptance.
coordinates schedules.
comply with state & federal regulations & company policies.
prepare reports as required.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day activities of Network Operations Technicians involved in maintaining a mobile switching environment, including preventative maintenance, fault isolation, equipment installation and acceptance and project management for a regional wireless PCS network.
Responsible for management of switch connectivity, network performance, outage resolution and investigating customer trouble reports.
Meet all new switch node or network equipment installation due dates per project plans.
Responsible for overseeing and providing 24x7 support to switch technicians.
Scheduling assignment of work activity, prioritize and managing overtime.
Schedule NSS, BSS and transport patches and software releases as needed.
Responsible for ensuring trouble tickets are opened on all switch and cell outages.
Develop local methods and procedures for use by switch personnel in accordance with engineering objectives.
Ensure team members comply with company policies and procedures.
Lead and direct teams of employees and contractors in a way that drives accountability and empowers individuals.
Work with other employees and departments to maintain a properly functioning, highly reliable and efficient network.
Provide technical assistance as required.
Requirements
A working knowledge of the following types of equipment:
Ericsson 202, 501 & 810 MSC and BSC
DC power and power plants
Tellabs/Alcatel DACS
multiplexing
Alcatel ATM
E-911 monitoring
Remote facilities testing
T1, DS3 and fiber testing equipment
Work Experience/Educational
o 4 - 6 years wireless telecommunications network/switch operations experience required.
o Bachelor's degree desired.
o network design and transmission systems desired

o Strong management skills.
o Excellent technical trouble shooting skills.
o Above average verbal and written communication skills.
o Ability to work shifts and on-call as needed.
o Be able to foster teamwork and cross functional cooperation in order to create a positive work environment.
