Responsibilities:
Coordinates and assists in service maintenance activities
QIP application management supporting IP block address allocation
NOC escalation contact for all Layer 3 single end-user issues
Vendor relationship and case management (Juniper, Redback, Cisco, etc.)
Establish (configure and test) Radius proxies with new BIA partners
Perform advanced DSL+IP site outage troubleshooting: OSPF (not Full), BGP (not peering), Hardware failure, Hardware reboot Software issues (RADIUS, DNS, IOS, AOS, ERX/OS)
Monitors FMS (outages/issues) and performs routine maintenance and activations on DSL+IP sites
Identifies and resolves DOS and/or other Internet attacks initiated from or received by Covad
Specific projects as directed by manager
Monitor hosted services
Create specific training materials related to all aspects of Production and
Management Network equipment (trouble-shooting, service and support)
Provide training to NOC Techs to increase NOC staff depth of knowledge
Updating routing profiles within soft switch and media gate ways
Live trouble shooting of PSTN to VOIP network issues
Qualifications:
Applicable experience should include some combination of systems administration or engineering, network operations, customer support, technical support, network engineering, and programming
Prior experience supporting call center operations, Internet Service Provider NOC or other 24/7 technical operations organization as tier two/three escalation contact is preferred
Experienced with various Network Operations Center tools (trouble ticketing systems, SQL databases, standard TCP/IP network troubleshooting tools and Network Management Systems)
Test, Turn Up, Troubleshooting PRI's, DS1, DS3
PRI/Q931 signaling and routing
Knowledge of Soft Switch based routing
Knowledge of Centrex features inter-working with the PSTN IE: caller id, find me follow me treatments
System administration experience with Unix/Linux, Windows2000 and Windows NT operating systems
Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and Internet routing concepts and practices is required
Advanced understanding of networking equipment (Cisco, Nokia, RedBack, Harris, etc.)
Depth of understanding of common network troubleshooting procedures
Excellent English language verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Experience in Wide Area Network Operations or other Internet environments
ATM and Frame Relay WANs and LANs experience, Fiber Optics and SONETs
Experienced in MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, VISIO, PowerPoint, Project)
Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
Typically requires an Associate's degree in technical field or equivalent experience, certifications, or training,SQL database administration experience preferred
3+ years network monitoring and/or maintenance
Voice Mail platform experience a plus
Understanding of SIP & MGCP signaling a plus
Unix platform experience
Cisco Media Gateway
Sylantro or Broadsoft Soft switch expierence a plus
