Danger is seeking an experienced Operations Program Manager with a passion for the integrated technologies that deliver Voice, Internet, and Messaging to mobile devices. As a part of the Danger's Program Management Office, you will be responsible for leading large and complex Service Operations projects that will span all of Danger's departments, customers, and partners.





Responsibilities





The Operations Program Manager will provide project/program management services for initiatives sponsored by Service Operations and in support of projects requiring resources from other teams. These projects/programs may originate in or span organizations such as service engineering, application engineering, quality assurance, customer service, product marketing, and our partners.





- Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to define projects associated with expansion, migration, and architectural evolution of the Danger service.


- Run team meetings and drive development process from concept through implementation and deployment.


- Write and review specifications and project plans, drive design, test, and implementation work, and interact with groups across all levels of the company.


- Participate in bug councils and help prioritize bug fixes.


- Work with partners as necessary to understand feature and bug fix requests and negotiate schedules.


- Coordinate communication among all groups within Danger.

- Data Center build-out and migration


- Network re-architecture and migration


- Database improvement projects, such as:


o Backing store migration


o Photo table migration


- Consolidated project calendar for operations


- Mail Buffering / Spam rollout


- Revamping pre-production services


- Qualifying new OS' and hardware platforms


- Operations Financial, Security, and Capacity modeling


- Corporate IT initiatives


- Service Availability initiatives


- Security Audit and Compliance


- Cross Organizational Software design and development





Qualifications





The ideal candidate will have five to sever years of experience in program and project management within Web based businesses, managing multiple large-scale, complex projects in dynamic technology environments.





Proven successes in facilitating cross organizational decision-making, sound business and technical knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfortable presenting at senior management level are all required.





Technical skills should include full product lifecycle experience: requirements, design, coding, testing, release, deployment, and maintenance. Good architectural understanding of issues related to web product usability, performance, security and scalability, and ability to express technical topics clearly in written and oral communications.





Experience should include identifying, assessing, and controlling schedules, costs, and quality risks while supporting issue resolution, and leading process improvement efforts. Specific experience leading competitive analysis and modeling for online production environments highly desired. Experience also required in balancing requirements for functionality, quality, costs, and timeliness.

Candidates for this position must be able to work responsibly, independently, and with a high degree of professionalism as they are responsible for a revenue generating service that is deployed around the globe.








Building on a minimum of five years of experience in Applications, Systems or Network Program Management, experience in driving world class projects/programs to completion for large-scale web based businesses.


- Deep experience using project management tools and techniques.


Integrated system project/program management experience preferred, ideally with a track record of successfully deploying physical migrations and software projects in a high-availability environment.

Experience in developing world class operations process, procedures, and audits to approach five nines.

Experience with developing, designing, configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, and administering online infrastructures.

Some experience with system design, test, and deployment, preferably on both new systems and system upgrades.


- Proven curiosity and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.


- Willingness to "fill a vacuum", and willingness and ability to hand responsibilities back to others as soon as possible.


Collaborative team player, able to garner respect from software engineering and other development communities.


- Detail oriented, loves to take notes, document, and organize.


- Ability to balance resources against business objectives through effective negotiations and strong influencing skills.


- Ability to see "trouble ahead" in a schedule.


- Outstanding written and spoken communication skills.


- Exceeds at public speaking, thinking in real time, and running meetings.


- Judgment of when to ask for help and/or push people who are working on a project.


Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project.

HTML skills a plus.

ITIL and Project Management Certifications preferred.

Four Year Technical Degree required.
